5‑day Countdown! From August 17 to 28, 2026, the 17th Session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD COP17) will officially kick‑off in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, under the theme “Restore Land, Restore Hope”. Over ten‑thousand delegates from 192 countries across the globe will gather in the capital on the steppe to jointly devise strategies for desertification control and climate‑change action. To date, more than 4,700 officially‑registered delegates have confirmed their attendance.

Amid this landmark green summit vital to humanity’s future, an innovative Chinese photovoltaic technology has lit up Ulaanbaatar. Cadmium‑telluride power‑generating glass photovoltaic modules manufactured by Zhonghui Jianrun (Chongqing) Technology Co., Ltd. have been put into service for official supporting projects of the conference, in partnership with Mongolia‑based exclusive agent BIB Discovery Sustainable Energy Tech LLC (BIB Discovery SET LLC). This marks the official large‑scale debut of the company’s power‑generating glass in major local Mongolian projects, following its initial overseas shipment as exhibition samples. The transition from display specimen to real‑world engineering application constitutes a milestone advance for this eco‑friendly technology.
Prior to the conference, the COP17 auxiliary facilities located at the National Amusement Park of Ulaanbaatar were successfully completed. Sandag‑Ochir, Minister of the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change of Mongolia, paid an on‑site inspection and spoke highly of this cutting‑edge low‑carbon infrastructure. Far from conventional buildings, the site hosts Mongolia’s first‑ever low‑carbon public sanitary facilities built with building‑integrated photovoltaic (BIPV) technology, embodying the summit’s mission through technological innovation.

The exterior facades of the two permanent large‑scale public sanitary structures fully adopt Zhonghui Jianrun’s BIPV CdTe (cadmium‑telluride thin‑film solar cell) solution. The building envelope itself operates as an efficient, silent green power station. On‑site generated solar power is captured and stored in high‑capacity energy‑storage systems to supply round‑the‑clock clean electricity for indoor lighting, delivering genuine zero‑carbon operation. Thanks to the outstanding low‑light performance inherent to cadmium‑telluride thin‑film technology, stable high‑efficiency power generation can be maintained even under Ulaanbaatar’s volatile weather conditions. The design perfectly aligns with COP17’s core goals of desertification mitigation, carbon reduction and climate‑change adaptation, and demonstrates Mongolia’s strong commitment to integrating clean‑energy solutions into municipal public infrastructure.
Capable of holding up to 80 visitors at one time, the two BIPV‑equipped buildings have been connected to the downtown municipal pipeline network. During the conference, they will deliver eco‑friendly, low‑carbon‑oriented service experience for international guests. After the summit concludes, the futuristic‑style buildings will be handed over to Ulaanbaatar residents as the lasting green legacy of this global gathering, available for long‑term public free‑of‑charge access and bringing the benefits of renewable energy to local communities.

BIB Discovery SET LLC, the authorized local agent, undertook full‑cycle construction of the BIPV CdTe curtain‑wall works for this landmark installation and served as an official special sponsor for the event hosted by Mongolia’s Ministry of Environment and Climate Change, earning wide international recognition for its professional capacity. As the core technology provider and product supplier, Zhonghui Jianrun, alongside its local partner, is translating pioneering innovations into robust driving force for sustainable green development, from early‑stage sample promotion to formal project delivery.
From Chongqing all the way to Ulaanbaatar, each sheet of power‑generating glass carries the ingenuity of Chinese‑made high‑end technology, as well as the green‑oriented commitment to combat desertification and safeguard our shared planet. Zhonghui Jianrun will continue its in‑depth research within the BIPV sector, make power‑generating buildings commonplace, and illuminate every corner of the world with renewable clean energy.
Stay tuned with us to witness more groundbreaking green‑technology achievements.
